Facelift in Saint-Tropez - Natural rejuvenation by Dr Stéphane Raoult

Overview of the
Facelift

Dr Stéphane Raoult performs cervico-facial lift procedures at the Clinique du Golfe in Gassin, in the heart of the Gulf of Saint-Tropez.

The facelift aims to correct skin and muscle sagging related to aging. This surgery improves the facial oval, jowls, cheeks, temples, and neck, without altering the features: it restores the appearance you had a few years earlier.

The principle is based on precise muscle tightening, followed by natural skin redraping without excessive tension. Excess fat may be removed by liposuction or, conversely, fat can be reinjected to restore volume when the face has become gaunt. Scars are concealed in the hairline and around the ear.

The Care Pathway for the
Facelift

Before the Procedure

A preoperative assessment is carried out according to the surgeon's prescriptions.

A consultation with the anesthesiologist takes place no later than 48 hours before the procedure.

Recommendations:
  • No anticoagulants or products that interfere with blood clotting should be used, unless otherwise advised by the anesthesiologist.
  • Smoking cessation is required 3 to 4 weeks before the procedure, due to its impact on healing.
  • The anesthesiologist will provide specific instructions for this procedure.

The Procedure

Incisions are placed in the hairline and around the ear to remain discreet. After appropriate tissue dissection, the surgeon tightens the muscular layer, treats any excess fat by liposuction if necessary, then redrapes the skin.

The excess skin is removed before suturing. A head wrap dressing is applied at the end of the procedure.

The procedure generally lasts between 2 and 3 hours under general anesthesia.

After the Procedure

The first few days should be dedicated to rest. Swelling, bruising, and a sensation of tightness are common and subside within one to two weeks.

  • The skin remains slightly firm for a few weeks.
  • Sensation in the cheeks and ears returns gradually.
  • Scars fade over time.

The result becomes clearly visible around the second or third month and continues to refine through the sixth month.

Frequently Asked Questions

The cervico-facial lift treats vertical descent and sagging of the skin and muscles of the face and neck. It notably improves the temples, eyebrows, cheeks, jowls, facial oval, and neck. The goal is to restore the natural appearance of the face by correcting sagging structures for rejuvenation while preserving facial morphology.
No. The principle of this procedure is to reposition the muscles and redrape the skin without excessive tension to achieve a natural result. The face regains the appearance it had a few years earlier, without a frozen look or artificial transformation.
This surgery can be offered as soon as signs of aging appear, generally from around age 40 or 45. The essential criterion is the patient's concern and the presence of actual tissue sagging.
Scars are concealed in the hair (temples and nape) and around the ear. This placement makes them very discreet. They remain slightly pink for a few months before gradually fading.
The result becomes clearly visible around the second or third month, as the tissues deflate and regain their suppleness. The face appears more rested, relaxed, and rejuvenated, while maintaining its natural expression. The effect is long-lasting, even though aging continues its natural course.
The procedure is performed under general anesthesia at the Clinique du Golfe in Gassin, near Saint-Tropez.
Strict rest is recommended for the first few days. Swelling and bruising subside within one to two weeks. The tissues continue to soften over several months. The social downtime period is generally 2 to 3 weeks.
The postoperative period may involve uncomfortable tightness, particularly around the ears and neck, but pain generally remains moderate and well controlled with prescribed medication.
Yes. A facelift provides long-lasting rejuvenation of the features, but aging continues naturally. A new procedure can be considered after about ten years if the patient wishes. Consultations are held at Dr Raoult's office in Gassin.
