Rhinoplasty in Saint-Tropez - Cosmetic and functional nose surgery by Dr Stéphane Raoult

Overview of
Rhinoplasty

Dr Stéphane Raoult performs rhinoplasty procedures at the Clinique du Golfe in Gassin, in the heart of the Gulf of Saint-Tropez.

Rhinoplasty is a cosmetic surgery procedure designed to modify the morphology of the nose and correct any breathing difficulties. It harmonizes the nasal pyramid with the other facial features.

The goal is to achieve a natural, balanced nose suited to the patient's personality, by reshaping the osteo-cartilaginous framework through incisions most often concealed inside the nostrils.

Currently, conservative surgical principles that preserve the dorsum (the nasal bridge) are more frequently recommended than traditional structural surgery.

The Care Pathway for
Rhinoplasty

Before the Procedure

A preoperative assessment is carried out according to the surgeon's prescriptions.

A consultation with the anesthesiologist takes place no later than 48 hours before the procedure.

Recommendations:
  • No anticoagulants or products that interfere with blood clotting should be used, unless otherwise advised by the anesthesiologist.
  • Smoking cessation is required 3 to 4 weeks before the procedure, due to its impact on healing.
  • The anesthesiologist will provide specific instructions for this procedure.

The Procedure

Rhinoplasty is performed under general anesthesia. Incisions are most often concealed inside the nostrils to lift the skin and mucosa and access the osteo-cartilaginous framework.

The surgeon then reshapes the nose (hump, tip, deviation, width, height...) including cartilage or bone grafts if needed.

The procedure generally lasts between 2 and 3 hours. At the end, a molding dressing and an external splint are applied.

After the Procedure

The postoperative period involves temporary nasal obstruction, swelling, and sometimes bruising around the eyelids.

  • Nasal packing is removed between the 2nd and 5th day.
  • The splint is removed between the 5th and 8th day.
  • Social activities can resume after 10 to 20 days.
  • The definitive result is appreciated between 12 and 18 months.

Sports activities are not recommended for 3 months.

Frequently Asked Questions

Rhinoplasty can modify the morphology of the nose as a whole or in a targeted manner: hump, wide or drooping tip, deviation, nose that is too long or too wide. It can also treat certain breathing difficulties related to a deviated septum.
The procedure can be performed once growth is complete, generally around age 16 to 18, when the nasal structure has reached maturity.
In most cases, the incisions are concealed inside the nostrils, leaving no visible scars. In certain specific cases, a very discreet external incision may be necessary.
Yes, rhinoplasty can be combined with a genioplasty (chin surgery) or other facial procedures to achieve a balanced result with the overall face.
The first few days are marked by swelling and breathing difficulty due to the nasal packing. The splint is removed after a few days, and resuming normal social life is possible between 10 and 20 days.
The postoperative period is rarely painful. The main discomfort comes from nasal obstruction and initial swelling, which can make breathing difficult for a few days.
An initial preview is visible after 2 to 3 months. The definitive result appears between 12 and 18 months, as the tissues fully stabilize at the Clinique du Golfe in Gassin.
Yes, if nasal obstruction exists before the operation, it can be corrected at the same time, particularly in cases of deviated septum.
The procedure is performed under general anesthesia for optimal comfort and safety.
It may be covered only in cases of proven breathing difficulty or post-traumatic deformity. Purely cosmetic rhinoplasties are not reimbursed. Dr Raoult welcomes you in Gassin, near Saint-Tropez, to evaluate your situation.
